Michigan Technological University’s Information Technology department is seeking applicants for a system administrator focused on research computing infrastructures. Infrastructure will include single and multi-node CPU/GPU computing clusters, faculty research desktops, as well as some legacy systems still in production. This critical role will support research computing needs across campus. You will become part of a culture that empowers employees, treats them with respect and encourages innovation and open communication. This position is located in Houghton, Michigan and while occasional remote workdays are possible, this is normally a non-remote position.

Michigan Technological University's Van Pelt and Opie Library seeks a full-time, 2 year Archivist who will provide key, in-person functions for the Archives, including research and reference services, archival instruction and course-integrated curriculum support, and assistance with accessioning, arrangement, basic preservation, and description of physical archival materials in a variety of formats. Some outreach support for existing programs, like Michigan History Day, will be expected for this position. While this position will not have any direct supervisory duties, there is an expectation that this position will assist with overseeing the quality of student work and may be responsible for creating projects appropriate for student assistants. General oversight of the reading room, stacks, and workroom will be expected, including upkeep of public and staff spaces, including basic pest and environmental monitoring.

Director of Thompson Scholars Program Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Director of Thompson Scholarship Programs provides leadership and administration for the Thompson Working Families Scholarship, a large and robust scholarship program providing gift financial aid to students at Michigan Tech. This program serves 350 students on Michigan Tech’s campus and will grow to serve up to 700 students. Working as part of a core leadership team reporting up through Enrollment Management, the Director will serve as part of the core leadership enrollment team. This individual and their team works hand-in-hand with financial aid, admissions, and educational outreach to contribute to the strategic direction of enrollment at Michigan Tech. The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program including strategic planning, managing all programming and support initiatives, and overseeing all daily operations of the program. This includes assisting financial aid as needed, contributing to enrollment management strategies for recruiting and identifying scholars, establishing practices and policies to monitor the academic progress and completion of scholarship requirements.
Structural Engineer Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
This position serves as a technical expert in the structural engineering of bridges and culverts. This position will work as part of a team that provides training and customer support to bridge owners and their engineers/consultants on bridge design, load rating, and asset management. This position is also responsible for conducting small applied research projects in fields related to transportation infrastructure. This position serves as an advocate and technical resource for Michigan’s local (city, village, county) transportation agencies and will provide technical support for activities underway at the Center for Technology & Training, which includes work with the Michigan Local Bridge Load Rating and Inspection Support program and the Michigan Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP). Research Engineer Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
This position serves as an advocate and technical resource for Michigan’s local (city, village, county) transportation agencies. The position will provide engineering technical support for activities underway at the Center for Technology & Training, which includes work with the Michigan Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP), the Great Lakes Environmental Infrastructure Center (GLEIC), the Bridge Load Rating Program, the Roadsoft asset management software package, and other research projects. The position requires a strong background in civil engineering (roads or bridges).
