Position Location Closes
Postdoctoral Scholar, Biomedical Engineering Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
A postdoctoral associate position is available at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) to conduct research on a wide range of topics related to computational biomedical engineering. The appointment is for 12 months, with an option for renewal upon satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Postdoctoral Scholar, Dissolved Organic Matter Biogeochemistry Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Michigan Technological University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to contribute to an interdisciplinary project at the intersection of marine microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, and marine engineering. This project is part of a large interdisciplinary team aimed at developing a system for conversion of marine dissolved organic matter into electricity using microbial fuel cells. We are looking for a postdoctoral research associate to coordinate field and lab efforts to characterize DOM concentration, composition and biodegradability across space and through time in support of remote sensing efforts to determine where and when the developed systems could be deployed. A key objective is to determine how operation of the fuel cell system may be affected by environmental conditions, and reciprocally how the system may affect the marine environment in the deployment area via continuous monitoring during deployments.
Postdoctoral Scholar, in Dissolved Organic Matter-Based Microbial Fuel Cells Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Michigan Technological University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to contribute to an interdisciplinary project at the intersection of marine microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, and environmental and marine engineering. This project is part of a large interdisciplinary team aimed at developing a system for conversion of marine dissolved organic matter into electricity using microbial fuel cells. We are looking for a postdoctoral research associate who can coordinate efforts to design, construct, test, optimize and characterize the ability of innovative microbial fuel cells to produce electricity from dissolved organic matter in marine environments at bench, pilot, and full scales.
Postdoctoral Scholar, Environmental Microbiology Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Michigan Technological University is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to contribute to an interdisciplinary project at the intersection of marine microbial ecology, environmental microbiology, and marine engineering. This project is part of a large interdisciplinary team aimed at developing a system for conversion of marine dissolved organic matter into electricity using microbial fuel cells. We are looking for a postdoctoral research associate to lead efforts to develop a microbial consortium that can be used in a microbial fuel cell for conversion of marine organic matter to electricity. This candidate will perform experiments to better link the extent to which dissolved organic matter composition and microbial community composition interact to determine dissolved organic carbon biodegradability and potential for electricity generation in a microbial fuel cell. The successful candidate will have previous experience with marine microbial ecology, anaerobic microbiology, and/or microbial community characterization.
Postdoctoral Scholar, Chemical Engineering Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Professor Lei Pan's research group at Michigan Technological University is seeking a motivated postdoctoral research associate to advance both science and engineering in the field of mineral processing and hydrometallurgical refining or primary nickel ores and recycling of Li-ion batteries. The primary focus will be black mass separation and lithium extraction and purification.
Assistant Professor, Optics Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Department of Physics at Michigan Technological University (MTU) seeks a candidate to fill a faculty position as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Optics, to begin in August of 2025. Applicants with the required education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and accomplishments commensurate with a higher rank will also be considered for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor.
