Research Technician or Research Engineer; Assistant, Associate, or Senior Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Great Lakes Research Center (GLRC) at Michigan Technological University (Michigan Tech) seeks to create, support, expand, and accelerate research activities in translational research. The GLRC is a flagship Center of Excellence integrating faculty and professional researchers in multidisciplinary research collaborations to address critical challenges facing society. The Center provides a full spectrum of research services, currently to more than 70 affiliated researchers from eighteen academic and non-academic units across campus, with annual research expenditures approaching $10M. The GLRC is seeking a research technician or research engineer to join our organization to facilitate engineering design, instrumentation, and data acquisition; and apply mechanical and electrical engineering, computer programming, embedded systems, sensors, and controls to on-going and new research initiatives. Ideal candidates will have at least a BS in mechanical or electrical engineering or a combination of experience and a BS in a related field; have education or experience in translational research and/or commercialization; and must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Laboratory Technician Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Michigan Technological University is seeking a lab technician to further research related to environmental biotechnology. A Lab Technician will undertake a variety of laboratory procedures of technical nature. The technician will be handling sensitive microbiological and biochemical equipment to analyze samples or substances and report findings to researchers. The technician will assist in projects related to waste upcycling, environmental biotechnology, and microbial community engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience in microbiology, molecular biology, and be knowledgeable in standard biochemical techniques. The candidate will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward. The goal is to optimize lab procedures and succeed in producing and documenting reliable and important results that can be used to advance science. Secondary to laboratory procedures, some time will be spent on administrative activities, including ordering, maintaining safety training records, and other record keeping. Some supervision of students may occur.

Senior Research Engineer Scientist Translational Health Engineering Research Center (Grand Rapids, MI)
The Translational Health Engineering Research Center (THERC) at Michigan Technological University in West Michigan seeks to create, expand and accelerate research activities that improve the health of Michiganders. This will be accomplished by establishing a nationally visible research hub, promoting on- and off-campus collaborations with industry, researchers, and clinicians, and creating an environment that enhances external funding. THERC will be part of Michigan Tech’s Health Research Institute (HRI), which is comprised of 59 members from 14 academic departments across campus. We are a thriving, cooperative research community that sponsors activities to improve community health, graduate fellowship programs, a faculty mentoring program, and several social and networking events throughout the academic year. HRI is seeking a Senior Scientist or Engineer to join our interdisciplinary organization. We look forward to welcoming an exceptional researcher who is willing to build new collaborations, drive innovation, and lead an externally funded research program. Head Men's & Women's Tennis Coach Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
Oversee the direction of the Men’s and Women’s Varsity Tennis programs at the NCAA Division II level. Responsible for recruitment, scheduling, practice/event preparation, budget management, fundraising and promotion. Assist the VP for Athletics and Recreation in a leadership role to enhance the internal and external visibility and recognition of the Michigan Tech Tennis Programs. Department Chair, Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology Main Campus (Houghton, MI)
The Department Chair will lead the Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology faculty in their mission of excellence in education, research, and service. We seek an individual who has an earned doctorate in Kinesiology/Exercise Science, or a related health sciences field with the vision and experience to grow our undergraduate and graduate programs, elevate the department's prominence in human health-related research, and further our strong tradition of educational excellence. We are particularly interested in a chair that can support and complement existing research strengths in the department in exercise science, integrative physiology, motor learning and control, biomechanics, and public health. The GLRC is seeking a research scientist to join our organization and the launch of a new thrust area in environmental biotechnology, including genomic biology, computational biology, systems and synthetic biology, bioenergy, and biosecurity. Ideal candidates will have a PhD in biology, environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or closely related discipline; have education or experience in translational research and/or commercialization; and must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance, which requires United States citizenship.
