Summary

MTRI (www.mtri.org) is seeking a highly motivated, intellectually curious, experienced professional interested in conducting cutting-edge research in radar, EO/IR, and remote sensing. This position requires collaboration with senior engineers and scientists to research, design, and evaluate algorithms, including machine learning algorithms, for signal- and image-processing applications related to radar and EO/IR remote sensing. Individuals will be developing an externally supported research portfolio while supporting multiple projects for government and commercial customers. A successful candidate will have a solid background in electrical engineering, machine learning, and signal/image processing.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties

1. Provide technical, analytical, and numerical support for ongoing research and development projects in synthetic aperture radar, EO/IR sensing, machine learning, automatic target recognition, and signal/image processing
2. Design and implement signal/image processing algorithms in MATLAB and Python
3. Prepare and deliver reports or presentations of research projects/analysis results to project sponsors as appropriate
4. Contribute to the generation of proposals and external funding
5. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work

 

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

M.S. degree or higher in electrical engineering or related field

Required Experience

• Experience in synthetic aperture radar signal processing
• Experience in developing machine learning algorithms for automatic target recognition
• Experience in EO/IR signal and image processing
• Experience in proposal writing for generating external funding
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience

Desirable Education and/or Experience

• Experience working with Department of Defense customers

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

• Must have active TS//SCI Department of Defense security clearance
• Must have ability to implement algorithms in MATLAB and Python
• Excellent interpersonal, oral/written, and presentation communication skills
• Ability to take direction but work without continuous oversight
• Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment with respect to significant matters related to job duties
• Demonstrated commitment to a healthy work environment

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

• Experience in MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint
• Experience with Python-based machine learning packages


Language, Mathematics and/or Reasoning Skills
