Summary

This position is responsible for operating a state-of-the-art analytical chemistry laboratory within Professor Lei Pan's laboratories in Michigan Tech's Chemical Engineering Department. This position is also responsible for coordinating sample analysis requests from external partners and users within the campus.

Responsibilities 

Operate analytical equipment including inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), total inorganic/organic carbon analyzer, microwave digestion, and other relevant equipment.
Prepare, review, and keep records of job safety analysis documents.
Manage basic financial reallocation within the campus.
Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work and commit to learning about continuous improvement strategies and applying them to everyday work.

Required Education, Certifications, Licensures

BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or other closely related area.

Required Experience

Basic laboratory experience.

Desirable Education and/or Experience

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

Basic knowledge and skills in analytical chemistry.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

1-3 years experience in operating ICP and microwave digestion system.
