Successful candidates will be developing an externally supported research portfolio while supporting multiple projects for government and commercial customers. This position requires collaboration with senior engineers and scientists to research, design, and evaluate electromagnetic (including EOIR) sensing methods for various applications involving a variety of linear and non-linear sensing phenomenology. A successful candidate will have a solid background in physics and engineering. An ideal candidate would have prior experience working with CAD modeling tools and corroborating simulated results with experimental measurements. Responsibilities • Participate as an integral team member on multi-disciplinary research relating to applying technical skills to solve governmental and societal needs.• Provide technical, analytical, and numerical support for ongoing research and development projects related to the physics of remote sensing and imaging.• Design, model, and analyze RF and EOIR imaging systems• Contribute technical expertise to symposia, journal articles, and technical reports.• Prepare and deliver reports or presentations of research projects/analysis results to project sponsors as appropriate.• Contribute to the generation of proposals and external funding.• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures Ph.D. in electrical engineering, or a similar related field. Required Experience • Experience with physics-based CAD modeling and simulation software (e.g., Ansys HFSS, CST Microwave Studio, Multiphysics)• Experience designing and modeling antenna array systems including feed networks, baluns and radiating elements • Experience with the design and analysis of linear and non-linear optical systems• Experience implementing mathematical algorithms in prototype software, such as MATLAB, Python, or Julia. Desirable Education and/or Experience • Experience with phased array radar hardware• Experience with RF circuit design• Experience with the development and application of radar and/or EO imaging algorithms Required Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities • Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance, which requires United States citizenship. Obtaining a national security clearance while holding a dual citizenship will not be possible when the foreign country poses a risk to the national security of the United States.• Excellent interpersonal, oral/written, and presentation communication skills• Demonstrated ability to participate in team projects• Ability to take direction but work without continuous oversight.• Ability to exercise discretion and sound judgment with respect to significant matters related to job duties.• Demonstrated commitment to a healthy work environment Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities • Highly motivated, self-starter• Ability to communicate ideas clearly at meetings and symposia• Knowledge and experience with the development and analysis of remote sensing systems• Knowledge in estimation and/or information theory Demonstrated success in working with persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.
