Reporting to the Director of Student Leadership and Involvement, this position supports assigned Registered Student Organizations (RSO) and works to ensure a vibrant campus community. The Coordinator manages the Cultural Events Fund, plans cultural events, and manages resources that benefit all RSOs. This individual will also advise the Memorial Union Board (our campus programming board), assist in coordinating department-led events, and support divisional initiatives as appropriate. Responsibilities and Essential Duties 1. Serve as the primary Student Leadership & Involvement contact and resource for assigned Registered Student Organizations (RSO’s).2. Process new RSO requests according to Board of Trustees and Student Leadership and Involvement policies. 3. Maintain RSO records and archives through Involvement Link, the Student Leadership and Involvement drive, and hard copy files.4. Regularly review RSO constitutions and by-laws and advise organizations of needed updates and revisions.5. Consult with and provide guidance to RSOs on topics such as organizational management, recruitment, fundraising, financial management, event planning, leadership development, and university policy.6. Lead the planning and implementation of large-scale Late Night Programming events throughout the academic year. 7. Co-advise the student-run programming board, the Memorial Union Board, in the implementation of regularly scheduled campus wide programming.8. Manage the Memorial Union Board budget in collaboration with the organization treasurer ensuring timely and accurate contract processing.9. Promote, maintain, and allocate the Cultural Events Fund.10. Coordinate, promote, implement, and evaluate MLK Day and Parade of Nations programming.11. Review and approve all RSO outside space requests, in collaboration with Facilities and Public Safety.12. Serve as a liaison on behalf of RSOs to regular campus partners such as the Memorial Union Building, Catering, Facilities, Athletics and Recreation, and the Registrar.13. Manage resources and supplies that benefit all student organizations including the Student Organization Office. 14. Assist with planning department-led events, including Late Night Programming and Tech Traditions.15. Develop, propose, and manage approved budgets based on data and event requirements.16. Assist in marketing departmental events/initiatives and maintaining departmental social media accounts.17. Assist with collecting program data and other evidence to understand student needs, student learning, and programmatic outcomes.18. Engage in policy and procedure development in collaboration with others in the department, division, and institution that prioritizes student success and well-being. 19. Serve on committees within the department, division, and the University.20. Work evening and weekend hours as appropriate to fulfill job functions.21. Actively create an inclusive, welcoming, and professional work environment for staff, students, and visitors.22. Identify and engage in continuous improvement initiatives to create lean processes.23. Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.24. Perform other mission-critical and position-specific duties as requested based on operational needs. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures ● Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired. Required Experience ● One or more year’s experience in or working with university student organizations.● Experience planning, organizing, and executing significant events/projects.● Experience in using personal computers, word processing, database, and using advanced features of word processing applications including utilizing columns or tables, sorting, and mail merge. Desirable Education and/or Experience ● Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.● Experience advising student organizations.● Experience working with a university programming board.● Experience using online student organization web platforms.● Experience working with entertainment/performer contracts and riders. Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities • Knowledge of student development theories, learning theories, and other theories related to the profession.• Ability to design basic brochures, event flyers, and/or newsletters• Knowledge of social media platforms and general ability to manage accounts, postings, and messages.• Demonstrated success in working with persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.
