Reporting to the Assistant Director of Student Leadership and Involvement, the Coordinator is the primary individual to plan, execute, and evaluate leadership development programs and community service initiatives. This individual will also advise Undergraduate Student Government, assist in coordinating department-led events, and support divisional initiatives as appropriate. Responsibilities and Essential Duties • Serve as the primary Student Leadership & Involvement contact and resource for assigned Registered Student Organizations (RSO’s).• Process new RSO requests according to Board of Trustees and Student Leadership and Involvement policies. • Maintain RSO records and archives through Involvement Link, the Student Leadership and Involvement drive, and hard copy files.• Regularly review RSO constitutions and by-laws and advise organizations of needed updates and revisions.• Consult with and provide guidance to RSOs on topics such as organizational management, recruitment, fundraising, financial management, event planning, leadership development, and university policy.• Co-advise the Undergraduate Student Government including assistance and oversight of leadership development, elections, programming, and transitions.• Coordinate the leadership pathway program in conjunction with other Student Affairs Departments.• Direct the implementation of the LeaderShape Institute annually.• Cultivate innovative leadership development opportunities for students and student organizations, while maintaining current offerings such as the HuskyLEAD leadership series, GRIT leadership workshop, and LeaderShape’s Catalyst program.• Coordinate the annual Student Leadership Awards.• Administer, maintain, and train users on the community service opportunities database and community organization information listing.• Work to develop and promote service opportunities to the campus community, including but not limited to Make a Difference Day and Alternative Spring Break (Service) Trips.• Ensure continued status as a certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award and annually certify qualifying students.• Provide consultation and assistance to other Student Affairs departments and student organizations regarding leadership development and community service opportunities.• Assist with planning department-led events, including Late Night Programming and Tech Traditions.• Develop, propose, and manage approved budgets based on data and event requirements.• Assist in marketing departmental events/initiatives and maintaining departmental social media accounts.• Assist with collecting program data and other evidence to understand student needs, student learning, and programmatic outcomes.• Engage in policy and procedure development in collaboration with others in the department, division, and institution that prioritizes student success and well-being. • Serve on committees within the department, division, and the University.• Work evening and weekend hours as appropriate to fulfill job functions.• Actively create an inclusive, welcoming, and professional work environment for staff, students, and visitors.• Identify and engage in continuous improvement initiatives to create lean processes.• Apply safety-related knowledge, skills, and practices to everyday work.• Perform other mission-critical and position-specific duties as requested based on operational needs. Required Education, Certifications, Licensures ● Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired. Required Experience ● One or more year’s experience in or working with university student organizations.● Experience planning, organizing, and executing significant events/projects. Desirable Education and/or Experience ● Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired.● Experience advising student organizations.● Experience working with university student government organizations.● Experience using online student organization web platforms.● Experience facilitating leadership training and development.● Experience working with community service agencies and organizations.● Experience with volunteer management platforms such as GivePulse. Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities ● Knowledge of student development theories, learning theories, and other theories related to the profession.● Ability to design basic brochures, event flyers, and/or newsletters● Knowledge of social media platforms and general ability to manage accounts, postings, and messages.● Demonstrated success in working with persons with a wide variety of personal characteristics and viewpoints.
